Ignore the bad reviews. If you don't follow the instructions it will leak all over the place. If you follow the instructions you will end up with an excellent coffee as good as produced by machines coting three times the price. So why have some purchasers had problems? Most coffee maker work in a continuous way, from foaming milk to pouring coffee. This machine works in two phases. First you press the top button only and when the green light comes on you can make the coffee. Now to foam the milk press the lower button, wait for the green light and then turn the dial to the left. Simple, until you come back for second helpings! If you have left both buttons pressed and go to make more coffee, it will pour out everywhere, because the pressure is too high. You can try blowing off steam through the foamer, but this is only partially successful. The point to remember, is that once you have finished making your first round of coffees you must turn off both buttons to allow the machine to cool down. Once you have mastered this, you will absolutely love this machine.

This makes the best shot I've had in a long time. It is identical to a machine that sells for 3 times the price under another brand and is favorably reviewed by one of Seattle's most recognized coffee maker shop (do your research). It is light weight and some of the parts like the drip tray are chrome looking plastic. The brew head and all the plumbing is also made of plastic. The boiler and portafilter (important parts) are stainless steel. Replacement parts are not available. This machine is not fool proof. Because it is a single boiler machine, you need to cool the boiler after frothing milk (this required a higher temperature and if you do not cool the boiler before making coffee you will get a mess of hot steam coming out of the coffee spout). This is the case for most single boiler espresso machine except machines that have an auto purge function land cost 5 times the price. Also this machine only has the classic single hole steam wand and you will need to practice to get the perfect froth. Again this is not a fool proof machine and a modicum of skill is required to use it. So why buy this machine? It makes a great shot and you cannot beat the price by a long shot. So it has a lot of plastic! Fully automatic espresso machine are mostly plastic inside and can last a long time, its a question of design and using the right material in the right places. If ever it breaks it will be cheaper to buy a second one than to purchase the replacement parts for a more expensive machine.

Make good espresso. Clean up the edge of the filter, tamp the coffee not beyond the MAX, Lock the filter to the right position, I don’t find any leakage. However, I cannot forth the milk like the cafeteria does by using this machine.

Creates creama even with poor beans. However, there is overflow from the spout filter and it is a little frustrating getting the right grounds level (even though I placed ground below max every time). The crema is smooth and creamy but the espress coffee itself tastes a tad watery even at half fill. Would have appreciated some hints on how far to let coffee run. 25secs??? 15secs??? Still testing out the right fit as I feel this machine is for keeps. Hope it lasts 5 years at least. Very good looking machine and you know the pressure is 15bar hence the creama.

Living Espresso, coffee maker, 15-bar pump, steam wand-living Gbasics that I just received today and I tried it right away with espresso first I had a cup with lot of foam I tested it and I liked it. For only approximately 100 dollars you get a good espresso, cappuccino, mocha and latté. It is amazing stainless steel machine and looks very neat in kitchen thank you (living).

I believe that a 100$ machine can make as good of a cup as a 300$ machine. After all, espresso machines have been around for decades and use a technology that seems relatively simple. Does this produce good espresso? Read on to find out. I am not a barista so all I expected from this product is a good cup of espresso that is easy to make. Someone with a trained palate may have different expectations that I do. I am happy to report that the Living Basics espresso machine does produce good coffee. The espresso comes out with a nice crema, the coffee tastes smooth, and the bottom of the cup does not contain any grain residue. As you can see from the photos, after brewing, a small pool of water remains in the brewing cylinder. I don't know if this is normal but it does not seem to affect the coffee. This machine operates like any other espresso machine that I have seen before. Most parts seem to be made of stainless steel. The tamper is made of plastic and is not weighted. The instructions manual has a few minor typos, but the reader can still understand how to operate the product. (Surprenament, les instructions en français sont mieux écrites qu'en anglais). Before buying this product, I called Living.ca to inquire about their return policy. They said that customers can return products up to 90 days after purchase even if the product was used. Living will charge 10% of the purchase price, but they will pay for the return shipping. I find that this is an excellent return policy and it convinced me to pull the trigger on buying this machine and trying it out. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase and I recommend this product to anyone looking for a good espresso at an affordable price point. I hope this review will be of use to you.
